I work with men, women, and individuals of all gender identities. I do not work with couples or offer family therapy sessions.
What do you do in sessions with clients?
A session typically begins with a check-in to discuss recent events in your life. We then have a deeper discussion focusing on the underlying dynamics that brought you to therapy and specific issues. This can include verbal processing, examining thought patterns and their effects, developing coping skills, or EMDR processing.
Do clients receive assignments to work on between sessions?
Clients who apply material from the session to their daily lives tend to see faster and more comprehensive treatment results. I commonly suggest that clients practice coping skills and emotional regulation techniques daily.
What modalities do you use in your client work?
I utilize person-centered, EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, psychodynamic, and behavioristic approaches.
What is your professional training and experience?
I received my undergraduate and graduate training from Arizona State University. I have years of experience in the mental health field, working as a BHT in behavioral health hospitals and in a private practice setting for over two years. I am clinically trained in EMDR. I regularly attend new clinical training courses and stay updated with the latest findings and research in the field.
What else must a client know to make the most out of working with you?
I will do everything possible to facilitate your healing and personal growth within my clinical role. Your internal motivation to make changes and willingness to engage in a challenging process are the most critical influences on the treatment outcome.
Dogs or cats?
Both! My rescue dog, Monty, holds a special place.
